King County Comprehensive Plan Update

Every four years, the King County Comprehensive Plan (KCCP) undergoes a major update. The KCCP is the guiding policy document for all land use and development regulations  in unincorporated King County, and for regional services throughout the county, including transit, sewers, parks, trails, and open space.

The Area Council began its review of the various draft KCCP Updates starting in the Fall of 2007.

We assigned both our Growth Management and Transportation Committees to conduct detailed reviews. Throughout the process, the Area Council has submitted detailed comments to King County officials. Over this past summer, the Area Council reviewed the recommendations of the King County Council's Growth Management and Natural Resources Committee (the committee asigned by the full council to conduct its detailed review). This resulted in a set of final comments which were submitted to the King County Council on September 29, 2007, for their final deliberations. On October 6, the King County Council held their final vote on the KCCP Update for 2008.
