Washington State University King County Extension's popular Forest Stewardship Coached Planning course for forest landowners returns to Renton beginning April 7. Packed with practical information and guidance from an array of natural resource professionals, this course uses a hands-on approach to help landowners decide how to manage their forests for ecological, recreation, and/or economic benefits. Instructors guide the class through the process of developing a written forest stewardship plan, which can be used to qualify for property tax reduction. Over 500 King County landowners have participated in this popular eight-week program since its inception.
What participants learn:
What past participants have to say:
"The class provides an extraordinary opportunity
"I would recommend it to anyone who has a forest to watch over."
"It was very helpful in organizing (my) management strategy and goals for the future."
"The site visit was so helpful, to have someone come to your forest and apply what was learned in class will stick with me for a long time. I have passed along a lot of the information that I learned and find myself using the material on a daily basis."
"This was an excellent introduction to 'Forestry for the Newbie'.... we discovered that this class was only a small step into the forest, but with the resources and assistance available, we can continue to develop our skills and take very good care of the patch of ground we are privileged to enjoy."
