7:05 PM —
Public Comment on topics not on the agenda
Bev Tonda announced the rainwater may be used as drinking water. She asked for us to invite someone from Health Dept. to come to a meeting to discuss the code/health aspects of this issue. Marissa will check on this.
A discussion ensued about our possible objections to the Tahoma School District’s intent to site an elementary school next to Tahoma Junior High School.
7:30 PM — Black Diamond MPDs
Peter Rimbos reported on current status of the BDMPD’s. It was moved, seconded and passed that send the memo Peter Rimbos sent the GMVUAC concerning the Development Agreements at Black Diamond be sent to the Black Diamond Hearing Examiner by August 4, 2011. This was submitted by Susan Dawson, board member and treasurer of GMVUAC, on behalf of Steve Hiester, chairman of the council. It was moved, seconded and approved unanimously that Peter Rimbos send a Joint UAC (signed by the Chairs of the three Rural Area UACs--Four Creeks UAC (May Valley area), Upper Bear Creek UAC, and the GMVUAC) letter to King County Executive Dow Constantine and King County Council members Reagan Dunn and Kathy Lambert. The letter also is addressed to the City of Black Diamond Hearing Examiner. The letter addresses impacts on the Rural Area from large developments, such as the MPDs, located on the Rural/Suburban fringe.
8:00 PM — 501(c)3 status
Councilman Rob Morris will seek information about our getting this status.
8:05 PM — GMVUAC Elections
GMVUAC elections are this year. Discussion as to procedure to follow. Unclear at present. Many questions remain. We decided to again mail out the Survey and election ballots to all who live and vote in the unincorporated area of the Tahoma School District. It was decided to meet early on September 6 rather than scheduled September 12 so we can deal in a timelier manner with this issue.
8:30 PM — Train Show
It was decided to wait until Sept meeting to discuss with Steve Hiester.
8:50 PM — Council Business
Warren Iverson raised the issue of selling the South Precinct, the Hicks-Rayburn Precinct. This precinct was named in honor of these officers and with the sale the honor could seem to be removed. This seems to be insulting to the families and honorees. The question presented was basically, how long should a memorial last? It was moved, seconded and passed for Warren to send a letter to the King County Sheriff to question “how long a monument is good for.”
9:00 PM — Adjournment
