7:00 PM: Call to Order Pledge of Allegiance Roll Call Members Present: Richard Bonewits, Claudia Brisendine, Les Dawson, Susan Dawson, Kevin Daoust, Dave Fields, Steve Hiester, Warren Iverson, Gordon Moorman, Rob Morris, Peter Rimbos, Patrick Seiver and Beverly Tonda. Members Absent: Eric Harris, John Huson. Guests Present: Tom Carpenter, Rick Spence. Review and Approve Agenda: Approved. A motion to have council members download the ballot from our website for each meeting was made, seconded, and passed by a 7-yes/3-no vote.
7:10 PM: Public Comment
7:15 PM: Presentation on UAC/UAC Member Customer Responsibilities to King County - Tom Carpenter Mr. Carpenter began his presentation by outlining basic growth and planning issues faced by King County residents in recent years. As these issues can be controversial, Mr. Carpenter then outlined methods citizens may use to inform themselves and help to resolve issues. Participation in unincorporated area councils, commissions, and public meetings are methods of expressing opinions and concerns. Mr. Carpenter strongly urged residents' participation in resolving problems. He also pointed out that our website and the biannual survey of voters in our area are vehicles residents may use to keep themselves informed and relay their opinions.
8:25 PM: Status Closure of 276th Ave. SE for Culvert Replacement - Warren Iverson Warren Iverson reported that the construction is one to two weeks behind currently and in all reality will not be done by estimated finish date at the end of August. The middle of September seems to be the best estimate currently.
8:35 PM: Discussion of Advisory Issues for 2007 Election - Steve Hiester Dick Bonewits distributed a timeline of activities needing completion to have our ballot ready for November’s election. Steve Hiester and Gordon Moorman presented a printout of proposed issues for the November ballot. New issues to be included are: the new Rural Economic Strategies for home-based businesses; possible transportation improvements and transit options; and a proposed Executive Department of Rural Affairs. Citizens can fill out an Advisory Survey at the polls on Election Day. For those citizens who vote by absentee ballot, the Advisory Survey can be provided by mail. The council discussed the issues and a refined ballot will be ready at the next meeting.
10:05 PM: Chairman Dick Bonewits led a discussion on a land use issue involving a member of the council. The issue seems to be resolved.
